This book entitled “English Language Course Textbook for Islamic and Guidance Counselling Students in the first Semester”. It is highlights the need for college students in learning English. Under the curriculum of University, one purpose of learning English in the university is develop the ability to communicate in English in the form of orally or in writing. Communication skills include listening, reading, speaking, and writing. These four abilities are mutually relate to one another. Listening skills must be mastered by students because it can help students to recognize sounds distinguish the meaning, recognize new vocabulary, and also know the grammar. The ability to read should be owned by the students because through reading will be obtained new vocabulary. Ability to speak and write can help students express ideas, thoughts, and feelings through orally or in writing. All the language skills should be improved and balanced in teaching.

To master the language skills are closely related to other aspects of language, such as vocabulary and grammar. Mastery Good vocabulary can help students choose the right words in accordance with  what is to be conveyed. Good mastery of grammar can help students in making proper sentences. By mastering vocabulary and grammar good language can assist students in making good sentences and really so easy to understand.
